Hehe - not the time or place to get elitist about music. And not calling Pantera or Sepultura 'real' metal ? Tut tut - study those history books.... 'Real' metal is such an idiotic term anyway.... It was funny when Manowar used the term in the 80's/early '90s but got a bit sad when bands took the term seriously.
Oh sod it, where's me Candlemass/Celtic Frost LP's..

I wasn't being serious at all and it was more in response to the first list of bands not pantera.

Did you know that "Hurt" by Johnny Cash was really a remake of Nine Inch Nails' original song? I too first found out about Johnny Cash's version before NIN's, and I thought that it was pretty good. I thought that NIN's version was better though.
You should really check out Nine Inch Nail's version.

C-murder is ill but other underground rappers are good too like Atmosphere and Canibus.
Sample of Poet Laureate II by Canibus:
...Alone in my room, looking thru the 32X telescope zoom
adjusting the focus of the moon
One should not assume the philosophy of David Hume
is nothing more then a subjective conclusion
What is the maximum field rate application?
the run away glaciation surrounding the ocean basin
affects the population fluctuation
on a continuous basis but that's just the basics
The juxtaposition of Canibus' position
the precision something no other has written
Way above and beyond what was intended
the unparalleled malleable enunciation of a sentence...
...but keep in mind nothing beats rock :P

My media player list is insanely long and there are so many random artists on it... so I pretty much listen to everything BUT country .

I just have a combo of the greats:
Mudvayne
Nightwish
Pantera
Spineshank
Slipknot
and more.
To this day, every time Mudvayne-Determined comes on, I am reminded of killing FOW spiders by the dozen.

Years ago I would have been able to at least try to answer that, such is no longer the case. I must say, I was very suprised to see I would not be the only person to mention:
Nas
Ghostface
DJKrush
Black Sabbath (Not suprised how many people have mentioned this group!)
Henry Rollins (You all suck, not even 1 other person!)
I have had the in game effects turned off since Lions Arch. I had to turn it back on to do the Final Assault quest, and I discovered that I was missing out on some of the really odd noises the creatures make. I was very suprised by some of them. I am sure I will get bored with it soon though. Then it will be back to my man MAYOR STARKS! I love killing things to his wicked beats and smooth lyrics.

The album Silent Alarm by Bloc Party mostly, but a little bit of prodigy is nice for when the action heats up. As for last stands in GvG (which happen far too often) Vermillion by Mercury Rev is nice.

I used to listen to the game soundtrack (it's actually not bad at all), but after a few hundred hours it does get a bit old... nowadays I often pop a CD by Bal-Sagoth, Dream Theater, Opeth or Symphony X in my CD player instead.

Dargaard, Arcana, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Mila Mar.
Basically, if it's darkwave, I listen to it.

Until Numa posted I was starting to think it was just me....
My preferred artists of the moment (subject to change at minimal notice):
Icon of Coil
Cruxshadows
Apoptygma Berzerk
Namnambulu
Aryia
Screaming Banshee Aircrew
Anthing much dancier than this and it gets hard to focus
